You'll find that in the livestock and vegetable growing sector there was greater opposition to Brexit.
The big issue with the subsidies is the government didn't , and still doesn't have a plan, as to what subsidies were going to be and how they were going to be implemented. We know there's going to be a greater emphasis on environmental schemes, which is why the barley barons are so angsty. Given that Red Tractor accreditation and supermarkets contracts are already leaning towards the environment the livestock and vegetable growers are already working to these standards.

Thanks for your reply Martin. I raised the issue in all seriousness and had in mind that you were probably the only person here with the industry knowledge. My concern is that good agricultural land might be taken out of production to get subsidies for 'fluffy sentimental' environment schemes. I support environmental schemes where they make sense. I also believe that soil use should be sustainable. I have no confidence in any politicians or civil servants having a clue.

Will we send any there at all? Incredibly doubtful. Even if the law passes through government, at the moment all international airlines are refusing to transport them. And it would be against international law to use military aircraft to transport them.

Whatever number of invaders we deport the criminal people smugglers will just import a huge multiple of the numbers of illegals.
We know how this problem can be resolved but no-one dare state it.

I think they are right about the silliness of being paid to grow wildflowers and bird seed in temporary habitat as what is needed is permanent habitat. All I see in the temporary habitat is the same ubiquitous beasties.
I'd rather see hillsides with trees than fields of flowers up here.

Trees without wolves. Feeding venison to wolves is daft.
