I like this a lot (mainly because I have bought loads of bears for my wife and two daughters - all grown up now - and have a soft spot for them). I would be inclined to reduce the exposure somewhat on the main subject - the bear. Just my personal style. The story is rather sad. I hope that the child that lost the bear is reunited.

Not sure I'd quite want to go that far but you have a point - the bear, particularly the coat, is a bit on the bright side. Time for a redo methinks.
