I'm looking for a specific door photo but it is unlabelled. Found this along the way. Edit: Stokesay Castle 274A3943.jpg by Pete, on Flickr Edit: much later than original post: out of curiosity, having found the church gate houses I had a look for a picture of the outside of Stokesay Castle. Like the Churches this is open, so the closure is on the inside of the gatewell. Curious. I also come to the conclusion that English Heritage use a different shade of yellow ( lemon through to near orange at times) every time they repaint the outside. Losing faith in my memory. Here's another door. I don't think the picture has been looked at since it was taken in April 2010. Somewhere in Caernarfon Castle. IMG_0049.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

We were in Hay on Wye following walking route signs to the country's oldest door or gate which took us back to the castle and some haras fencing at a building site, very not worth the effort.

A gate at the moment but I can imagine that in times past it would have been able to be blocked with access by door in the same way as the gatehouse at Stokesay Castle that I posted earlier where horizontal timbers (presumably removable to allow carts through) seal the entrance. Thames Barrier IMG_6569v916 by Keith Hudson, on Flickr The best chance of photos of it closed are when they do the pre arranged maintenance closures but I have not yet managed to get my act together and visit on those days.

Closed. From the start of the quarterly challenge (gosh that was 2 months ago) - still not got a clue. Story of the town centre these last few years. DSCF0912.jpg by Pete, on Flickr DSCF0911.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

The Duke And Rye by Nigel Hayes, on Flickr Unsurprisingly this used to be a church until it was closed. Then it re-opened as a pseudo 'gastro-pub' under the less than appealing 'Slug & Lettuce' name before morphing into the Duke & Rye. When I took this photo just before Christmas (22/12) it once again appears to be closed...
