Lovely shots of men enjoying a hobby. Somehow I doubt I'd have got the same smiles as I'm not comfortable getting people to pose but you clearly have the knack.

That's fab pictures! I bet they would/did like them. A bit scary thinking of the weapons down there, but better there than on the street I guess. Well done!

Oh undoubtedly! Glasgow's reputation as a 'hard' city didn't come out of nowhere. These guys were lovely though - really keen to chat and show us their finds. They have a facebook group which they let me join (you had to answer some questions to join..one was what would you do if you were out magnet fishing and your pal fell in the river? a. Phone for help immediately or b. point and laugh. I chose b. They seemed like that kind of a group.) All the guns/knives get taken to the police. I feel like I'd enjoy a spot of magnet fishing. I mean they also hauled up an old tape measure and what looked like half a car battery so it's not all Glesga Mafia stuff.

How did they know where to find the weapons... Just asking... I suspect, any old river or canal, in most cities would reveal quite similar finds!

I often see magnet fisherpeople when I’m out on the canal boat. Their usual finds are lock windlasses and mooring pins, although the occasional weapon turns up, along with bikes and Tesco trolleys.
ETA, other supermarket trolleys are also available.
