A special Christmas treat from the board's token bellringer:

Bah humbug! I'll get it right this year! Rifle locked and loaded by my chair; ammunition stacked at all embrasures; bear trap set in the fireplace. I'll get that fat bearded, red-coated bastard who keeps stealing my sherry and mince pies and have spit-roasted reindeer for Christmas lunch. Bring it on!

Nah - he's one of these 'property is theft' types. He doesn't steal my sherry and mince pies, he just says they were his all along.

Anyway, can you own sherry? On the basis that "you don't buy beer, you only rent it" I would say not.

I am certainly not averse to either, quality dependent. I always get in some real sherry for the Christmas season, but I always have Emva (remember the Emva Cream sherry ads way back?) Dry, Medium and Cream in the cabinet as it's really cheap ever since they are no longer allowed to call it sherry. However, a sherry it is! As for mince pies, I actual prefer mince tarts, because you can see how much mincemeat was put in, and add more if disappointed. Either way the local Zorbas bakery chain does a passable version of each. I also quite like a McVities Digestive biscuit spread with mincemeat, but I would never admit that on a public forum.

Actually, yes I do remember the Emva ads. Calling it Emva Cream fortified wine doesn't sound quite the same though does it?
I like sherry but I don't know enough to recognise a good one, White Port is another matter entirely.
