So in addition to MacGowan, Kissinger, and the infamous ping pong ball lady, former chancellor Darling and Elliott Erwitt have died. Definitely a win some/lose some kind of day.

Sad about Elliot Erwitt. He showed me how you can capture situations that made me smile - and without being nasty about it.

I hadn't heard about Elliot Erwitt's departure until you wrote about him. The saddest of today's death's. His pictures were always full of affection and humour.

Your post was the first I'd heard about Elliot Erwitt.  Sad to hear this, as he has been one of my favourite photographers for many years. IMO, browsing through his book 'Personal Exposures' is one of the best ways to enhance one's enjoyment of a glass of wine. |

Oh, no! The first I'd heard of this, too.
Brilliant artist and playwright, and from everything I've seen of him on TV etc., seemed to be an all-round bloody good bloke.
