A little photo essay, the camera as a note pad or sketch book. In the Autumn we visited The Red House in Bexley Heath, a house designed for and fitted out by William Morris. He only lived there for a short period of time early in his career, the decor and internal fittings are largely an experimentation of styles in collaboration with his bohemian artistic friends and their muses. Again where others looked at colour, I was drawn by shape, light form.

Anything goes eh? The last time I took a camera out was on 29th December when we went to look at the decorated-for-Christmas house at Erddig. We usually take in Chirk but this year that was a bit of a disappointment in that they had done something very nice and novel but much restricted in scope compared to previous years. When, in 2024, I finally decide on which mac to buy that will run the Adobe AI tools, including the noise reduction, I will be able to see what the tools can can do with these shots. Everything was very dark and mainly lit by the Christmas lights with some low level safety lighting to illuminate the walkway. This has caused some shadows from the guide-ropes. All very noisy, being taken at ISO 6400 with exposures of about 1/10 s hand held. I've done my best with the "classical" noise suppression tools in the latest version of LR that runs on my computer (11.5). White balance is all over the place. Some tungsten lighting but I suspect most of the point light sources are LEDs. The room as best as I could do. DSCF6767.jpg by Pete, on Flickr The tree DSCF6765.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
