Think I'll stick to English classes! FTFY.  My neighbour in Spain is Brazilian. He speaks fluent Spanish and English( relatively new to the language) as well as his own language. His husband is a Yorkshire man. It is quite funny when he corrects his husbands English! |

His English accent is very good, although it is clear he is not naturally English. He hasn't picked up his husbands Yorkshire accent though. That would be pretty weird I think, lol.
To be clear, it is the Brazilian that corrects the English guy's language.

Kanji is the name for the characters carrying meaning, whereas hiragana are the phonetic characters for words of Japanese origin. There are also katakana, phonetic characters for words of foreign origin, and romaji, using the roman alphabet. e.g. 漢字 (kanji for the word kanji) can be expressed as かんじ in hiragana. Or a different example, バーガー (burger) in the phonetic katakana, or ba-ga- in romaji. Simples! Think I'll stick to English! You are not alone in thinking that!🤣 I’m confused just reading about it. |

It is quite funny when he corrects his husbands English! When I was working I had a colleague who liked long, solo, expedition type holidays. He decided one year on a cycling tour of Brazil. His Spanish (which he was learning ahead of the trip) got to quite a high standard before someone told him that they speak Portuguese in Brazil and he had to start all over again. |

When I lived in Newcastle, the local newsagent's was run by an Indian family.
The mother still had an Indian accent.
The Father spoke English with a Geordie accent.
The son had been to university in Liverpool and had a Scouse accent.
Which confused people who had just moved into the area.
