£10 for a roll of E6 and developing seems like a bargain these days. One reason I mostly buy Fomapan these days. With d&p a roll of c41 is pushing £30 with neggy scans.

My son messaged me to ask how much was film? I replied why for? His reply was one of his mates was bragging of spending £30 on a roll of film !

Yes I sent Nicholas a couple of links to other suppliers, up to him if he sends them to his mate.

The MX just has to be the best camera I've ever had in terms of weight, bright viewfinder and handling. It just felt like an extension of me. After a long search and a lot of playing round with different cameras, I ended up deciding as previously described that the MX is just about my favourite manual exposure manual focus SLR. The KX is pretty close. Neither are perfect, I don't like the focus direction of Pentax lenses and I would have preferred a metal bladed shutter, but the MX is a lovely little thing, the KX very similar but bigger. And I do like the M series lenses, too. After a month of using (almost) nothing but LOMOs, a month using these two is just delightful in a very different way. I still have some framed 36 x 24 inch Cibachrome prints from shots taken with my MX and Tamron 28-200 using Kodachrome 200 or Ektachrome 200 (when I didn't take enough rolls of Kodachrome to Venice in late 1999 and nobody there sold Kodachrome). Interestingly, although the image sharpness falls off a little at the edges and corners of the prints, none exhibit any of the colour fringes that would occur with a similar lens used on a digital camera body and all look fine from a sensible viewing distance. If you only ever want to use one lens, or are travelling light, these lenses can be picked up quite cheaply now, but the required 'Tamron Adaptall' Pentax K mount may be more difficult to find.

Many tend to believe that Amazon is the home of low prices, it might have been once, I don't reckon that holds good now in many cases. Some Amazon sellers really take the ^$**.

I've, also, my new MX (spring/summer 1997) and having a 24/2.8, 35/2.8, 50/1.7 (meh) and a 135/2.5 I'm a happy snapper some sentimental snaps ... I have also purchased some metal lens hoods from retailers in Japan via the eBay website, and everything arrived after 2-3 weeks without any problems.

Perhaps, I'm just old fashioned, Chester, but, I've always enjoyed wandering through camera shops, second hand shops, pawnshops, etc .... far more interesting than browsing online shops, even though I have done so, but, usually, for other folks requirements In fact, I have only purchased one thing (camera wise) online and that was the summer of 2021 and, even then, someone else purchased it for me Cheers, Jack

I purchased 5 second hand lenses, a new carbon fibre tripod, and up to 2007 rolls of Kodachrome 200 from the helpful team there. However, I live about 15 miles from there and have only been back to the city once since I retired at the end of 2015. That shop is still my nearest real photographic shop, hence the need to look online for small items now. Even when I looked in LCE for second hand lenses, I needed to buy some lens hoods and filters online because they didn't stock them.

Yowza, Chester, only once in the past eight years and it's only 15 miles away . I mean, even if you don't drive, there is always ride sharing, car jacking or, if worse come to worst, a taxi, perhaps Also, further to Zou's mention, I'm guessing the 2K of Kodachrome 200 was done well before Kodachrome was a goner(?) Cheers, Jack

Er, Jack, I think he actually meant the year, not the number of rolls of film. But obviously I could be wrong.

Anyone want to hazard a guess at how much 2000 rolls of Ektachrome would set you back in 2023 money? About £30k?
