The thread title could also refer to a thief looking for a nice camera to steal, so be careful. Crowds of people, lots of children, packed into a small area... are your Covid inoculations up to date? Just over two months to go before life returns to normal and supermarkets again stock all their regular lines, including all the ones currently unavailable to make room for all the Christmas rubbish. Am I the only person who finds the Christmas orgy of pointless consumerism and pretend religious belief boring? The religious belief is just about bearable, but the consumerism is intolerable.

No you are not but at least this year people started talking about it before I bought myself the latest CD I want* so I am not going to wrack my brains when asked what I want. Hopefully after last year she will not try to treat me to additional surprises.
* "The Abbott" a double cd of Clive Carroll playing the music of John Renbourn.

All the false bonhomie, excessive eating and drinking and all the absolute rubbish being bought, keeps the factories in China busy I suppose. I'm alway glad when it's all over.

If you're not religious, you shouldn't celebrate Christmas! It's all about the birth of Christ, hence Christianity.... at least it was until consumerism tried to take over (the Jewish feast of Turnover, as someone once said). I shall take a face mask or two with me but Christmas markets tend to be open-air events and I don't like heaving crowds. I'm going as much for photographing the brightly coloured stalls and decorations as anything else and will probably end up buying very little in the markets and elsewhere.

You mean to say these things are intentionally to part on from oneβs money? Well I never.

Have your "survived to just after mid winter and let's hope the worst is over festival" on Auld Years Nicht, just as Yahweh intended.

Never underestimate the cunningness of the adherants of the belief system of a bunch of bronze age goat herds.

Can't believe it's only October and we're having this chat. Gets earlier every year.

Whatever camera you take should work fine for documenting people supporting the most environmentally damaging day of the year during a climate emergency.
