I must ask at the garage/spar shop whether they have any of those salt dispensers for my steps. One patch is bloomin lethal when it is icy.

Re the salt? I was talking to a neighbour yesterday and he said no problem. This morning a very heavy bag of grit'salt appeared by my door. Along with my snow shovel, I'm sorted.

The nice thing about the change in the weather is the rel humidity has dropped by 20%. Much more pleasant.

Met office says down to -4c in Edinburgh so Penecuik is probably looking colder than -3.
Edit - the above is bollocks, I looked at the "feels like" line rather than the temp line.
