As the film section has a thread on film cameras I thought we ought to have another thread for old/unusual lenses & open it up to digital shooters as well I only take shots of my more unusual lenses, I don't have the time to snap them all! Lets see any shots of unusual & classic lenses. IMO auto focus lenses should have a separate thread if anyone wants to share shots of those. Here are a few of mine A 50mm/1.2 projector lens mounted via a long helicoid to give infinity to macro focusing Mounted 50mm/1.2 projector lens by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr A c-mount microscope lens, jury rigged to MFT (giving ~3x magnification at 90mm working distance at full zoom & infinity focus at a lower zoom) ultra macro lens set up by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr A 200mm f/0.7 Fresnel auxiliary lens (eventually to be tried on my 5x4) Fresnel by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr A 3" crystal ball as an auxiliary Crystalised light by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr

Not on Flickr but to hand I also have a comparison of my heaviest lens (a 2.2kg 150mm f/1.2 projector lens that covers 5x4 and more) with one of my smallest a cine lens that gives roughly 270mm equivalent on my Pentax Q (my lightest proper lens the 12g 24mm/2.8 for Pentax auto 110 actually looks slightly bigger) Attachment Deletedand here's a shot of the cine lens mounted giving an idea of scale Attachment Deleted

I have never seen a Q dwarf a lens before! Really really wish Pentax launched a so-called 1" sensor Q with a similar range of lenses to before, that would be 99% of what I want/need as a daily camera. Well, 90%. Ish.

I so wanted that to be enough for me. And in good light, it nearly was. Real lenses? Toy lenses? Dodgy old CCTV lenses? A fisheye? Check to them all. But just not good enough IQ in the end. Would a 1" sensor have done? Don't know - I settled on the APS-C EOS M series, which have been rather wonderful for me in the end.

I find Micro Four Thirds, has enough IQ for everyday shooting, but the Q allows playing with a few lenses hardly anything else can use. The NX mini would perhaps have been another option, even shorter flange distance & a larger sensor but I think the range of available adapters is more limited & it needs pins shorted to 'shoot without lens'. I might end up getting one anyway I don't have a 1" sensor interchangeable system yet. It would fill a gap in my crop factor line up I currently have 6 different digital sensor sizes, & 4.65x to 2x is my biggest gap. Best leave it for a while I've got too carried away this year.

My NEX-3n has basically done the same for me, but the range of lenses is poor (loads of manual focus but few wide enough to be really useful, and hardly anything compact and long). Hence in the upgrade thread suggestion of a used a7 - not much bigger but a lot more lens choice without crop factor. The EOS M series does look good, but I don't know the lens range well.

I wish someone sold CS adapters for the Pentax Q, that would allow some lenses that are even smaller - I believe 3D printed adapters for CS have been made, but I'm not going to get into 3D printing.

My wide range is 8mm f2.8 Samyang fisheye - remarkably good little lens. 9mm f2.8 Laowa - very nice lens, only thing I don't like about it is the feeble clickstop on the hood, which tends to rotate by itself, annoyingly. 11-22 Canon AF - fantastic little zoom, best wide zoom on the market for its price, you have to pay twice the amount for the Fuji one to get equal or better. 16mm f1.4 Sigma AF - a bit too big for my liking, but a very decent lens. And 22mm f2 AF Canon pancake, a rather nice and very small lens. There are all sorts of third party manual lenses. I also have adaptors for Leica M (and an LTM to M adapter fits that, too), Canon FD, and EF to EF-M, which then allows all my EF adapters too.

I was aware of both the 11-22 and 22 but unaware that they were both so reasonably priced. Even the fast Sigmas and Samyangs seem reasonable. Hopefully nothing will go wrong with my Sony but will definitely keep an eye on the EOS M options.

My Nikon D600 is more or less restricted to hosting my Tamron AD2 lenses these days...

Thanks, Chris. Looks like Mum's old 80-210 might be getting the OM-mount Adaptall swapped off, then... Nice to have another lens in the armoury, especially one that fills the gap between 135 and 400mm!
