I've had very little in square format sine I was at primary school (my first camera was a 6x6 box). Hopefully this one will do cropped square due to vignetting caused by the reversed telescope eyepiece used. Knot macro by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr

I dug up a CD of scans that came with prints from my 6x6 - these date to February 2006. I've just been exploring if I can share a CD drive across the network (yes) - but I had to copy the files to work on them - work being resize to 800 pixels - the original jpgs are all over 20 MB. So these are attachments that were shot square.

And a last one because I just had to. Toy shop Christmas 2006 Window Display in Conwy. A guy stopped to talk to me while I was trying to take this. He was a press photographer and was carrying one of the first Nikon digital cameras - all held together with gaffer tape it was. He showed me the "benefits" of digital in that we could hear a siren and he got a useable picture of the police car as it crossed the end of the road. Quite an achievement given that the road is single lane and, even with pavements, not really much wider than a (small) car length. It is fully built up to 3 storeys so there was no way of seeing the car coming and it was gone in a trice.

Do you ever look back thinking perhaps one last phase of shooting film or do you think that you are well over the effort and inconvenience of film ? As you know I am still sitting on the fence. On Saturday I spent a few hours wandering by the Thames with a dozen other amateur photographers, I took along a 35mm film camera and some lenses taking twenty odd shots, hopefully I was more thoughtful than I have been of late with digital. It was a deliberate attempt to slow down but I could not resist the odd phone camera shot too.
