I am thinking that these are re productions, remembering previous industry on the site.
I can't see that phrase Whale Oil, without finishing it with Beef Hooked. Ha! Even if they have been repainted, it's always good to get a history lesson. |

I can only think of one remaining building in Chester that has a written (painted stencil) sign of is original purpose. I haven't a photo of it. If I can get one today I'll try - assuming that it is still there. The old industrial part of town has been mostly demolished, even stuff that had a preservation order on it. |
