Thanks I did have loads of tries! One club session shooting simple long exposures, then another with second curtain flash and a third with a strobe at various speeds. All gave some interesting results, but proved high unpredictable...

Possibly my longest exposure ever, at about 12 minutes. But then it is a paper negative, shot indoors. scan0031 by Zou san, on Flickr

Given the price of film there's a chance I might experiment a bit more with paper negatives, but I do need to be mindful that I don't have a darkroom, or even a room at home I can completely black out.

Six Seconds Multi Flash Test Shot Chillis by Kathryn Polley, on Flickr There was some talk about speedlights the other day. It has been a while so I thought I'd test out the multi mode on my flashgun and do the multiple exposure thing. I was very lazy though and didn't bother creating a proper set up - just waved a chilli pepper about on a wire in front of the side of a soft box. Still. It demonstrates the theory if nothing else.

Aha! My son asked for a plasma ball lamp for Christmas. I'm now going to have to see if I can use it with the speedlight to capture individual arcs at different points. Expect to hear moaning from eldest child at being 'forced' to help.
