Do I need to lose the bit of red flower at the base of the lowest larva?

Really depends on where you are posting the picture. Some places could be against any cloning or removals. If it is to a place for identification of beasties, I don't think it matters.

Not for my benefit. Excellent camera craft.

It doesn't spoil the picture but I'd think it would easy to desaturate it without messing the other colours up.

Thanks folks. If it goes anywhere it will be in a natural history section. They are fairly strict on what can be done but their main premise is that "the essential truth of the scene should be unaltered". I think that toning the red might be OK.
Thanks again

If your photoshop skills are good enough, I'd take the red flower out completely replacing it with the background you already have

It's not exactly a deal breaker but I'd say a bit of desaturation and maybe some darkening wouldn't be out of place.

I tried but my P'Shop skills might be worse than the original!! Comments? Mick I think you have done a good job on that. I still have reservations about removing the flower (?) especially if it is a flower belonging to the leaves the caterpillars are enjoying in which case a suitable caption could quite easily negate the removal exercise.

Thanks again. For those in the know it's an easy ID - Large White (Cabbage white) on Nasturtium, And yes, it is the food plant and the red are the food plant flowers. The red of the flowers behind the larva were bothering me but , believe it or not, I decided to leave the trace of flowers on the other side for similar reasons to those hinted at by ZX9.
Thanks again.
