Lovely set Pete. I particularly enjoy the bikes...First one looks like a mid 90s Specialized crossroads trail minus some accessories and then spoiled by some modern parts. Original brake levers for cantilever brakes and a v-brake on the back is just wrong. I'm far more sympathetic with the classics  . |

A very nice set of pictures. Now since this is in appraisal might I make one or two suggestions.
Looking for blemishes and cloning them out is worthwhile. The shots are well observed, you have selected good viewpoints and you have exposed them to get lots of detail. The dull weather can be used to your advantage now that you have the images digitised. Nothing is burnt out and nothing is in very deep shadow. The fairly flat tones leave a lot of scope for getting the colours just right.
On Trip 20 I think a slight crop left and right would get rid of distractions and after that consider removing some of the foreground water.
I think that these nice shots have potential to be really good.

John Y -- YES I CROPPED it to get it ready for a PDI Comp at Brentwood & District Photographic Club when Club resumes Sept 8th after the Summer Shut-Down . I get comments on Flickr and here and if I agree I do what is said ! At Club so many members take Judges' Comments as the Gospel Truth and will not take a snap unless a 'Judge' would like it -- RUBBISH !

I agree 100% with comments regarding photo comp judges -- apologies to photo comp judges here -- and, ironically, one of my "competitions" was, almost, my last when the judges comment was (and Im paraphrasing here cuz it was in the autumn of 1987) "... well, this photo should be much better because they (the subjects) are always just posing for you ... " see my snap .... my response to him was (paraphrasing, again) "... that's utter bu\\$shite, I only have several minutes to take snaps, I'm shooting wide open (f/2.5), with a long(ish) lens (200mm) and the subject is bouncing around the stage to appease the paying customers .. not some gits taking snaps ..."    |

On September 8th the Brentwood & District Photographic Club re-started after the Summer Break with a PRINT Competition. I got an award in the Advanced Photographers Section for a portrait taken on a trip with Club members to KENTWELL HALL Suffolk, ReEnactment weekend but one of the members 'Got The Hump' at what the Judge had said about 2 of his prints and at Tea-Break he gathered up all his 4 entries and LEFT THE ROOM !
