Artificial sweeteners are an abomination. As is sugar from beet. Cane sugar is the only one if you are preserving fruit (jam) or making marmalade. Sugar beet has not got the preserving qualities.

Coke is wonderful stuff, I recall that is was the only thing that would remove rain repellent form aircraft windscreens. I wonder what it does to ones insides? I stopped drinking coke/pepsi etc. some years ago. The ph of Coca-Cola is 2.6. Given that human stomach acid has a ph of 1 I doubt it actually does any damage. Do you consume vinegar, citrus juices, etc.? I don't consume 330ml of vinegar at a sitting, nor citrus juices in such quantities. However it isn't just the phosphoric acid that is a problem. Any way I feel better having stopped drinking the stuff so I don't really care anymore.

I used to love Coca-Cola (The full fat version) but never Pepsi (when Pepsi Max came out I tried it once and left the can after the first taste) I drank it every day then I got a gum infection and found fizzy drinks aggravated it so I didn't bother for a few weeks. Then one morning it was baking hot so I took a can out the fridge to drink on the way to work, took one swig and spat it out! It tasted revolting! Haven't drunk it since in fact I rarely drink any fizzy soft drinks these days
