It's no wonder I don't get a good night's sleep.
Here are some of my near neighbours.
Residential Home care worker Fish farming workers Two nurses Dustman Night shift worker checking on young offenders' home Two taxi drivers Worker on the ferry Someone on a motorbike!
All (or most) seem to keep strange shift patterns or hours. Some are quiet, others wake me up in the night (cars).
Do you all get a good night's sleep? Or do you have wake-up calls throughout the night? I guess I got too used to the quiet in my old house. Town living is good in one respect, but awful in other respects!

Luckily for me it is quiet around here (other than the sound of my wife!). I rarely sleep without earplugs though, always have, probably due to working shifts most of my life when daytime noises used to spoil my sleep.
At work, we had access to thousands of ear plugs on the range, so I always had them. Now I have to buy them. Grrr

Shut my eyes...sleep. It annoys my wife no end, especially when I'm driving.

There are two pubs near me with late licences. It used to be worse when the Chinese Takeaway underneath our flat stayed open to serve the punters who'd just been given the heave-ho from the pubs but since covid they've started closing much earlier and the pub-goers just become home-goers. Our bedroom is on the side of the building near the street where htey all congretate to fight each other after closing time, particularly if there's a boat in. The Locals v. Matelots fixtures can be sight to behold if you're lacking other late night entertainment.

It's quiet where I am, even though we're in town. Our street is not busy, and the bedroom we use is at the back of the house. My wife, however, can hear our neighbour's heat pump, in the quiet of the night, even through the fence and our garage...

Was always quiet apart from someone with a very loud Bonneville who used to come home for his break in the middle of his night shift.
Funny, doesn't seem to happen since I retired and changed bikes...

Directly across the narrow pedestrianised road was a nightclub. We saw fights, people having sex in the street, women just pulling their knickers down to wee without a care in the world. Was such a nice little town too! Our door to the flat opened onto the front terrace of a pub. That was noisy too. The only advantage of that was, it wasn't far to go for a pint.

I can fall asleep almost anywhere. I struggle to fall asleep in bed. I've even tried sleeping on the edge of the mattress to see if that helps me drop off

If you have only recently moved you will become accustomed to the sounds of where you live. My grandmother moved close to a railway line which had a ten minute frequency of service in both directions, after a while she didn't notice the trains, the service didn't cease till after midnight. It's fairly quiet where I live, a neighbour had a Labrador dog which used to bark quite a lot when outside, I actually miss the sound after she died nearly two years ago.

I sleep really well even with a pump going 24/7 for my airflow mattress and a bipap machine blowing air into my nose. My multiple sclerosis makes me feel tired, I am currently on respite care in a nursing home in Hythe and slept 6 hours last night. Even with all the other noises and nurses moving around.i actually think it may be quieter here now than when I settled down last night. 😂❤️

I turn the light off about 23.30 - midnight, yet still awake until 2 or 3 AM, bladder wakes me around 5 or 6, then I take another hour plus to get back to sleep, so rarely surface before 11AM. Some eeejit knocks the door at odd times during the night about twice a month and vanishes before I could get to the door, presumably goes up the fire escape stairs on the opposite side of the corridor, so I ignore it.
