Final photo opportunity of my week off found us at RSPB Arne. Saw quite a few birds, but nothing close enough to get decent photos. It was wonderful to see a Marsh harrier ripping into a flock of 50+ Curlew, but too far away for the camera. Highlight was the small herd of Sika deer that came out to graze on the saltmarsh. Initially there was one stag and four does, but by the time we had got downwind to get closer they had been joined by two more bucks. sika herd by Martin Bone, on Flickr sika buck by Martin Bone, on Flickr sika buck 2 by Martin Bone, on Flickr sika buck 3 by Martin Bone, on Flickr

Very nice. Some trivia... Shika is the Japanese word for deer. A long time ago the word was written in English as sika (with the sound still being 'shika') hence when this species was introduced to the UK it was called sika. Deer deer, innit.
