Kate's reflected sea wall made me think of this - bit of brick and ironwork but mostly stone. Posted before on APForum in 2021 I think. IMG_0002.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

The effort involved beggars the imagination of the modern age but I guess that labour was plentiful, skilled and cheap in 1820. Granite railway, Haytor, Dartmoor. Used for the horse-drawn carts carrying dressed stone from the Haytor quarry down to the canal. A distance of some 10 miles. DSCF1883.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Note to self: must find out about the construction history of Harlech Castle - presumably the building was halted at a point of some completeness and then restarted with a different source of stone, presumably granite. DSCF2652.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

Took me ages to find this - it wasn't on Flickr and it seems that I deleted its companions at some time in the past. Dolwyddelan Castle - I had to find it on Google Maps to get the name of it. Some fine stone walls too. IMG_0017.jpg by Pete, on Flickr We also visited William Morgan's cottage that same day. Winters must have been hard. IMG_0022.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

I really like the stone sets shown by Martin in Frome. I was wondering where I had seen cobbles in the UK (there are some, not many, in Chester, but I have no known photos of them) and found this from Exeter. I hadn't remembered that the buildings were stone [at least in part] also. Shame about the plastic drainpipe. I have to save up for a new computer before I can test the new AI object removal tool in Lightroom. DSCF0784.jpg by Pete, on Flickr

This must be classic, someone added it to a Flickr gallery [whatever that is] and it gets looked at least once a month. Why? Search me. 274A0367.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
