No cheese board here, I have to behave and my wife can't have a lot of cheese without digestive consequences.

Somewhat to early to tell for me. Any cheese purchased more than a couple of days before Christmas wouldn't stand a chance of lasting.

Cheddar Blue Stilton Brie Port Salut Lancashire.
We also have parmesan but that, of course, will not be on the cheese board.

Cheddar Blue Stilton Brie Port Salut Lancashire. We also have parmesan but that, of course, will not be on the cheese board. Not sure why that is "of course" - it's a very good cheese to have on a cheese board. When I was in France more or less full time, the local Michelin starred restaurant always served Parmesan on the cheese board, and what an excellent choice it was. Sure, you don't need big chunks of it, but unless the cheddar on your board is a really good farmhouse one, Parmigiano Reggiano would give exactly the balance it needs. It's a marvellous cheese, and far more suited to just eating than I had previously thought, I must say.

I always find most of the Parma. hit comes from the very high salt content, to such an extent I often use cheddar for spag. bol and certainly for lasagne use cheddar for making the white sauce and just grate parm. on top.

Not sure I should be teling you this as it's potentially doing me out of the stuff, but... the cheesemonger on Saffron Walden Saturday market has a 14yo Canadian Cheddar at the mo (sold as 10yo as it's easier to remember, apparently!) that is just fabulous - it's the perfect blend of flavour strength and sharpness without burning your mouth. I like my cheddars as mature as possible (unlike my jokes), and this one is possibly the best I've ever tasted.

To mis-quote Chief Brodie, we're gonna need a bigger cheese board. My boss has just presented me with my Christmas box. A nice stilton, Cornish cruncher, extra mature red Liecester, and English Brie cheeses. I was going to moan there was no Port, but there was £100 in my Christmas card instead. Happy days!

I love your selection of Cheddars - best cheese in the world for me. I too have a few Cheddars and I've added a bit of Emmental and Blue Stilton. Mick My cheddars come from a company called The Chuckling Cheese Company they're excellent

I'm nearly all cheesed out now. We had all the usual suspects and a cheddar that I picked up from Morrisons 'market street' which turned out to be quite decent.

Our christmas cheeses have all gone, so just Blue Stilton, Cheddar, Smoked cheese & Emmental now. I did but three speciality cheese on the 22nd The 'Y-Fenni' barely got home, the 'Red devil' only lasted till mid day on the 23rd, I can't remember the name of the other but I'm pretty sure it didn't make it to Christmas dinner (but then for other reasons I didn't either).

We got through some brie, aged cheddar and a nice little soft goats cheese. Again, less than in previous years, but still delicious.
