I've always fondly imagined that we don't spend as much money in the summer. Way less need for lights, heating's off, lots of salads so less cooking expense...except I seem to need four times as many showers so I'm not sure we're saving much at all!

In addition to which, more ice-cream is needed.

I've taken to making my own ice cream, trouble is, it goes too quickly.

Cold showers would be very cheap. Or perhaps try merely lukewarm so that you use less hot water (or electricity if an electric shower).

We do have an electric shower but we've disabled it and now use one of those old fashioned things you attach to the taps. Better water pressure and marginally cheaper to run. We also have a kind of egg timer to encourage quicker showers. I am afraid I can't do lukewarm. If it isnt' scalding the skin off my back it's not warm enough!
