Tramp I have to say I hoped to have some alternative suggestions for my hastily compiled list for this month, and this was a candidate. However, it seems like a lot of you are missing in action, so here we are. I used these for tramping the Lewis roads, moors and beaches. These boots were made for walking. ap tramp boots by Kate Ferris, on Flickr

I don't as a rule intrude on the homeless but sometimes the opportunity offered by those reacting to what in the old days would be called a tramp. Berkeley Square Homeless. by Keith Hudson, on Flickr Part of a set showing the then novel electric car, a Bentley and this image, all taken within 10M and five minutes in Berkeley Square.

Struggling to think of a photo for tramp. One I was thinking of I can't find. Tramp isn't a word really used anymore is it. All it conjures in my mind is a homeless person. When I was younger there was a tramp who "lived" around our area. Went everywhere on a pushbike. he was known as "Mike the bike" or "Mike the tramp" he dressed like a typical tramp, long coat, very unkempt hair, dirty and used to shout at people. When he died, the local press did a story. he was worth a fortune! MH issues I suppose. Sad.

I thought of Steam Tramp for the small boats that worked the coast, I probably have pictures of one in St. katherines Dock during one of the historic vessels festivals but a, I don't have time to go looking and b, I don't know exactly what to look for.

I remember, in the late 1970s, one knocked on our door in Southampton (we lived on a main road) and asked for water for his kettle and we invited him in. He absolutely reeked of woodsmoke, otherwise was charming and polite, refused food and went his way with his kettle full. A "gentleman of the road" complete with long coat tied with string etc.
