I was never a dunker because dunking made biscuits too soggy... with one exception, ginger nuts. Dry ginger nuts were too sharp for young gums. I still like dunked ginger nuts. Nowadays I dunk them in strong black coffee.

That the so-called researchers found Jaffa cakes to be the best biscuit tells you all you need to know about the state of education in this once fine land. They aren't frigging biscuits!

The fact that the site put an exclamation mark after 'some people think they're cakes' suggests that the word needs spreading!

This type of research seems to happen regularly. Who funds it?

My biggest worry is what kind of subhuman dunks a jaffa cake?

Jaffa cakes haven't made it to this part of the world. We do have a sweet called a jaffa - a favourite for rolling down the aisle of a picture theatre. Aucklanders are sometimes called "jafas" - just another f'n Aucklander...

Aucklanders are sometimes called "jafas" - just another f'n Aucklander... Seems you can get some McVities biscuits over there but not Jaffa Cakes. Seems odd...they can be very moreish and hard not to eat a whole packet. They are owned by United Biscuits which is a UK company that happens to sell most of the popular biscuits folk dunk here. Whichever ones people like McVities is likely to be the first choice so there is no need to mention the brand in the research for it to be an effective advert.

The usual dunking biscuit here is a Griffin's gingernut. There is a local speciality called a "tim tam slam" - a tim tam is a chocolate coated wafer biscuit made by Arnotts. You bite the ends off, and suck your drink through the biscuit.

Alas, as a diabetic I tend to avoid chocolate biscuits.

My first career job was in the place they used to make jaffa cakes in Edinburgh. Apparently when they moved production to Glasgow they had terrible problems getting them right. The cake/biscuit issue was all about VAT.

I don't really like dunking biscuits it leaves a mess in the cup I usually just eat the biscuit and wash it down with tea/coffee

I haven't had rum in years. Irish whiskey, though...
