I have a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 - it wasn't particularly expensive. I have a Sony A mount 16-50mm f/2.8 that I think cost less than £150 and a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 in Canon EF mount ( the non stabilised one) for my 60d that I think cost me less than about £70 , both pre owned . I might have even swapped some unused lenses for that one at LCE , so sort of free really . So they are affordable unless you insist on the newest and greatest . Mine, too, is on a Canon 60d, but I bought the kit new some years ago.

Wow. 17-55 f2.8. I thought that you were quite hard up from what you have told us. I brought it 10 years ago when I wasn't hard up and I have come close to selling it a few times

I'm glad that you have hung on to the lens. It's becoming a bit of a classic.
