I think the UK entry deserved a far higher place. It was one of the better entries IMO.

I think the UK entry deserved a far higher place. It was one of the better entries IMO. It was the only song I'd heard before the contest, and it was utterly without merit. So either the others were genuinely better (likely) or your post-covid sense of taste now extends to music!

TV was on when it started. Quickly turned the sound off when it was clear that there was no actual singing. Only staging. Turned the sound on for a few seconds an hour later, it was no better. Went back to reading. Still do not know the result.
The whole thing has passed its sell by date.

I haven’t watched it properly for years. Is it still a popularity contest between neighbouring countries, where it doesn’t matter about the quality of the songs?

Other than the Finnish entry the performances were quite bland. Judging by the responses to this thread I reckon if you produce a song that will get pensioners tapping their toes with the sound turned off you'll be onto a winner.

The whole thing has passed its sell by date. Wasn't that after its first few years ? I can imagine after a war and only two or three channels to choose from ( when did we get three channels?) Then it probably was quite entertaining. But by the 60's , presumably there were better things to do ? Or maybe the current Eurovision is the result of excessive drug taking in the 60's ?

I think the third channel was BBC2 which came along in the 60’s. Or, perhaps excessive drug taking is down to Eurovision? It might make it a bit more enjoyable.

We switched on the TV as the scores were being announced. That was painful enough but to make it worse some disembodied female voice kept talking over the 'official' sounds.
We very soon switched off.

As long as it is by a crooner playing medieval music in a dinner jacket. And to be beaten by Croatia. WTF, lol.

At least that’s over for another year!

At least that’s over for another year! You could always get the past ones on DVD to fill your time.

I watched most of the performances but can never stand the results/voting part so went to bed at that point. Mr Kath watched it and he did tell me who won but I've forgotten now. As far as I can recall most of the songs sounded about the same aside from about four and they didn't stand out for any good reasons.

I thought that I had avoided it but turned on the BBC1 politics show this morning and there it was. What has this pap got to do with politics?
