I have Covid again! %$£"!!!!!
Visited a friend last week who said that she had a 'very minor cold' and that she was Covid negative.
On Saturday my nose runs like a tap and that continues all day yesterday. Today, so far, I seem fine.
Yesterday's test showed a VERY faint positive line which is possibly why my very ancient friend missed it.

I'm having trouble with the forum. I typed what you now see and when I clicked create thread it all disappeared. I then typed what you saw - just as a test and was typing the rest as you replied!!

Mick You are not alone. I occasionally get a message that thread not found (or something like that), then it magically appears.

Covid is still around, on average three people die every day in the UK due to Covid related illnesses. Three a day is certainly sad for the families concerned but for a population of around seventy million people is no worse than many other diseases and conditions which we take for granted. We are mostly living with covid. I expect most of us have been exposed to the virus and many will have had repeated mild cases which has strengthened our resistance. I am not too concerned about it but did take advantage of another booster a few weeks ago.

Hopefully Mick shrugs it off and is back out showing us* how it should be done with the dragons and damsels in due course. And the other beasties...I've got little chance of a wasp spider up here, for example. To me covid is just another of the 200+ common colds I try to avoid. I don't routinely get vaccinated for any of them and I still regard my covid-19 vaccine experience as worse than any cold I've had. There's no chance I'll burn fossil fuels for a covid-19 vaccine while I'm a low risk and there's a climate emergency. * well me at least.

My elder daughter and her partner tested positive for the first time about 2 weeks ago despite both being vaccinated and booster-vaccinated. They recon it came from the school via their kids who have previously had it, but tested negative this time round. Unfortunately my daughter had it particularly bad, feeling quite ill, bad cough, runny nose, temperature, no energy etc and tested positive for almost 2 full weeks. She first tested negative only last Sunday, 2 days ago; when she phone me she still sounded quite bad. So what was the purpose of all those vaccinations if it didn't (a) stop her from getting it, or (2) make the effects of getting it very mild?

So what was the purpose of all those vaccinations if it didn't (a) stop her from getting it, or (2) make the effects of getting it very mild? My wife had it at the very start of the pandemic, before any lockdowns, vaccines etc. She was nearly hospitalised her symptoms were that severe. Trust me, the symptoms you described are mild in comparison.

So what was the purpose of all those vaccinations if it didn't (a) stop her from getting it, or (2) make the effects of getting it very mild? The problem with all the Covid vaccines is that unlike most traditional vaccines they don't prevent you from catching/retransmitting the infection (Covid) that they are meant to protect you from. At best the vaccines minimise the chance of you getting the most severe symptoms.

I'm glad I didn't get it so early.
