I found what looks like the depiction of a crown. I'll have to find the original and have a closer look. Statue in Sevilla Cathedral. Edit (10:31): after a search - statue is of Ferdinand III the King of Castille so it is indeed a crown. IMG_0030.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
