I was wondering the same thing. I think a pole tends to be longer than a post, posts can be knee high while a pole will usually be more than 6'. However if it gets too long it can become a mast instead!(This ruled out quite a few of my options) This is actually a sign post, but I find the name of this sleepy Norfolk village amusing so I'll share it anyway: Sleepy Norfolk Village by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr For the record the polecats at least are definitely not posts, & I've never heard of a scaffolding post either
