We had a conversation about 'unfortunate' names this weekend. My friend swears that she works with someone called Chris Peacock. I have a friend called Iain Thomas Smart although he usually puts the Thomas down as just the first initial. He regualrly recieves mail addressed to I Aint Smart.

Does anybody know whether there is actually a company called Mike Hunt Whistles, or is one of those urban myths?

Does anybody know whether there is actually a company called Mike Hunt Whistles, or is one of those urban myths? Or the rumoured receptionist who Tannoyed "has anyone seen Mike Hunt?"

The lads in the workshop of a factory I worked in many years ago used to get the receptionist with this, along Don Keebles.

My sister swears that her music teacher was called Melody Beat. The meanest toughest teacher in my secondary school was Miss Cross-Sterne and boy did she live up to her name!!!! I recently had a manager whose surname was "Hassard" but she wasn't one

He regualrly recieves mail addressed to I Aint Smart. Friend of mine used to work in the IT Department of a bank and the way they made email addresses was your surname followed by the first letter of your first name Bit unfortunate when some bigwig from China came to manage quite a large department ...his first name was Kam and his surname was Wan.... A company I used to work for used first letter of first name followed by surname. I think the IT set it up on purpose because the company "Yes" man and all round brown noser ended up with an email address of Sheap

When a company I worked for had a Paris office mainly staffed by locals, one of the guys was called Guillaume Le Petit. The internal phone list pinned to the office wall of course listed everyone by Surname first so he became - Le Petit Guillaume.

One of my late father's good friends was a bricklayer who knew a Ben Dober (I think Ben was a nickname) but also a Mr and Mrs Cart who named their son Orson

In the RAF I recall a Cpl Dover, always known as Ben; There is also the possibly fictitious Scottish pair Ben Doon and Phil McCavity, or the Irish couple Patrick FitzMaurice and Maurice FitzPatrick
