On a lighter note.
Rhun ap Iorwerth
What a great name. He (I assume it's a he) is a member of the Welsh parliament and I found the name in a report on issues with the Menai Bridge.
Any more great names?
Mick
PS I googled. Yes it's a he and he's deputy leader of Plaid Cymru

The majority of people, I'd wager, have names derived from the bible. So I've wondered why so few are named Nimrod (the mighty king/Hunter from Genesis). In fact, I have never met a Nimrod, and the name has become a kind of derisive slang word, at least on America's west coast.

Once met a guy called Dr. Cockshott. On his credit card and everything, not a nickname!

An american friend's first husband's surname was Goodwillie. She kept her own. There's a Scottish Professional footballer turned rapist with that unfortunate name.

I worked for an O'nion and a Bean at one time. Neither with any sense of humour though.

Through work, I used to know an Ivor Baddick. What were his parents thinking?

Through work, I used to know an Ivor Baddick. Β What were his parents thinking? They had 'high' ideals?

Had a colleague called David Brown Dodds. He was adopted and his birth mother wanted him to have her surname as his middle name. Well she wasn't to know...

In the years between 1914 and 1918, two unfortunate children were christened Zeppelina (at least one because the doctor attending her birth passed a blazing Zeppelin wreck on the way). And let's not forget Mr and Mrs Card of Chelmsford who lumbered their son with the moniker Valentine.
You can look all of these up on FreeBMD.

Through work, I used to know an Ivor Baddick. What were his parents thinking? They were thinking about as much as the parents of a girl I went to school with they called her Annette harmless enough apart from the fact their surname was Curtin
