Hear lots about this topic, but not yet seen a coherent description of what it really means. For some people it seems to be when you put a greenish colour cast on your pictures, others saturate colours heavily in otherwise underexposed scenes, and for others it's just anything in wide-screen.
Any thoughts?

I've not seen anything of it apart from some discussion of lenses that compress in the horizontal only to give, on decompression [during projection], widescreen aspect ratio from 36x24 mm. Forget what they are called.

"Todd-AO is also the name of the widescreen, 70 mm film format that was developed by Mike Todd and the Naify brothers, owners of United Artists Theaters in partnership with the American Optical Company in the mid-1950s. Todd-AO had been founded to promote and distribute this system. "

Not something I'd really thought about before but I suppose I'd think of it as photography that 'feels like' it could be a still from a film. Something atmospheric, elements of story-telling, stylised in a way that hints at a particular director's aesthetic perhaps? So that could be all sorts including anything on the Accidentally Wes Anderson instagram account to anything that looks a bit 'film noir' I suppose!

Any thoughts? Sitting at the computer just now with todays meagre results I remembered that Fuji have added a "cinema" film profile to later cameras called "Eterna". Applied today and compared to the profile I use as a reference [Astia] which has generally soft colours and reduced contrast, Eterna is somewhat desaturated. Any thoughts? The same Astia vs Eterna with today's abc (another blinking chiffchaff) - not sure that we learn much but saves me posting in Twitchers thread. Greens and yellows muted as before - shows change in yellow more maybe. Au Revoir by Kath Polley, on Flickr Okay, so this is ancient but has been called 'cinematic' by some.

240407-HenryBellMonument-001 by Kath Polley, on Flickr In this scene our hero has abandoned his love interest in pursuit of a noble cause. Audio fades to none, scene to black. Next scene is presumably in a busy cafe with the love interest rushed off her feet and our hero's nemesis approaching the counter.
