The offer emails were getting more frequent, together with a lot of lines out of stock is always a bad sign.
I used to enjoy shopping with them when they were just off Blackfriars Bridge Road, it was a proper aladdin's cave. The move to Elephant was just not the same, I assume it went further downhill when they moved to Pool (?).
FWIW I have been using Speedgraphic more often than Silver Print, similar prices but better stock holding and usually next day delivery on standard delivery charge.

I've tended to deal most often with Speedgraphic to for film and chemicals. I emailed Silverprint the other day enquiring about the Fomapan 10"x8" film as it was showing out of stock. They replied it was special order anyway and supply was usually about four days . I've been meaning to order this week but didn't get around to it. Glad I didn't now ! I'd probably be £160 out of pocket. It's a shame if they are gone for good though , I've had a fair bit off them over the years . |
