Somewhere to post handy bits of information that don't fit in existing topics.
I note that Tesco (and presumably other outlets) put a fairly short BBE on Celery (not the trimmed sticks, the complete with partial roots and leaves)
My mother always placed celery in a jug (I use a 1Litre) with an inch or two of water , it then keeps for about 10 days to a fortnight, the water will need topping up occasionally. If you think about it you put flowers in a vase with water to keep them going, why not celery, it's a plant. Maybe a family could use theirs an a couple of days, but those of us living alone or as a couple would waste quite a bit, not tried freezing it, but doubt it would work too well.

My tip for celery is to cut into small pieces and pop it straight into the compost bin.

When cooking with celery or celeriac add celery salt in stead of salt.

I find slices of cheddar inserted between two bits of buttered bread makes an interesting and tasty light meal. I call it 'Martin's cheese and bread snack'.

For the cyclists here, avoid getting a sore bum by simply placing a naan bread over your saddle. This will comfort your ride and when you return home, hey presto! A warm snack.

Even better (and am not taking the P) put the buttered side of the bread next the plates of the Forman grill. The cheese goes in the centre of the sandwich with chopped onion and a smidgeon of Tabasco. I'm feeling peckish already.

Writing from previous experience. After eating cheese, onion and Tabasco sandwiches in the late evening, it may be beneficial to take a generous dose of Gaviscon before turning in. Goodnight.

My tip for the day, well, for life really:
Never eat anything bigger than your own head.

Never eat at a place called Mom's. Never play cards with a man named 'Doc'. Never sleep with someone whose problems are worse than your own.

Don't pass tip 3 around too widely otherwise you will never get laid.

I prefer either lightly toasted chunks of sough dough bread, with chunks of Brie which have then been melted under the grill, or the same bread with a bit of salted Lurpak onto which are large chunks of 'proper' clothbound farmhouse cheese still with the rind on, plus a slathering of plum or mango chutney. Needless to say, both of these cheeses are not kept in the fridge, as a temperature between 8c and 5c because fridges are generally too cold and this kills the bacteria.

Never put down a round lid or lens cap on a tablecloth that is covered in coloured spots.

Never vote to leave the EC and then try to travel via Dover at the start of school holidays.
