Arrgh. I went out yesterday and took some shots just for the theme but then the thought of getting them onto Flickr etc just went out of my head. Ah well. A day late:

It is like a summers day here today. Shadow again, just now, plonking herself down in the shade. IMG_5027 by Nigel G, on Flickr

Coming out of the shade of the earth. Lunar eclipse Sept 28 by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr I woke up a little too late to capture the total eclipse of the moon back in 2015, but most was still in the shade

Our workshop once put on a (rather cluttered) display at the local carnival, making use of a gazebo for shade (and potentially waterproofing) Clacton Carnival display 1 by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr

While in New Zealand I made use of some shades to boost reflections from this roadside pond. Roadside pond, NZ by Mike Kanssen, on Flickr all my photographic polarisers were on the far side of the world, so not exactly handy! My shooting location was nicely shaded too.

Shady Chiffchaff. This was all [self]shaded - strictly speaking it was massively backlit, sat as it was far out of [camera] reach in a big tree. Exposure comp of +2/3 in camera, +4/3 in post plus shadows lifted. It is a wonder that there was anything recoverable. Proved to be the only tractable chiffchaff of the day. Plenty around to hear but precious little to see. DSCF3240.jpg by Pete, on Flickr
