The oldest dockland crane I know is Harwich's treadmill crane, built in 1667.
The hook sadly doesn't show well in this shot of it (IR ~5 years ago) but it is there at the end of the chain

Quick shot of our picture hooks, most of the rooms have picture rail as befits a 1930's London semi which is good for moving pictures around on a whim without making holes in the wall.

The picture is Steph's paternal grandmother, taken in the 1930's in a Parisian studio. There is as predictable for the family I married into, quite a long story attached that I will not re tell.
