Capture One Express for Fuji is still free but you need to search a bit to find it. My XT 2 did not come with software.

Hey zou - I owe you a beer! Because of this thread I dug out my old Fujifilm X-10 which I had retired three years ago. The shutter button would always jam in the down position and had to be fiddled with extensively to get it back up. I treated it with very fine machine oil and then with WD-40, but to no avail as it never recovered - until today. The shutter button suddenly started returning after being pressed, as it should. It's still not quite right, as there is no first pressure - in fact, it seems it is always on first pressure. Solution? Set manual focus. and use back-button focus to override it! There is a hole in the shutter release button, I presume to take a screw-in cable release, but I don't have one to check any more. I suspect something went down that hole and jammed things up, and whatever it was has softened up enough over the last three years to allow some movement of the button. Another camera returns to the fold!

Next time I'm in Cyprus! Hey - I've just poured it for you. If it looks like it's getting warm and flat, I may just have to drink it for you!

So to address the issue of 'need', especially in the context of Squeamish's retired camera.
I've been using my Sony NEX-3n for the last ten years very happily. It is everything I needed at the time and has evolved to become much more, thanks to adapters and nice old lenses. My eyesight has started drifting so I now need an EVF instead of a back screen, and age is also starting to affect the Sony. For the last couple of years I get occasional faults after taking the first picture after switching it on. Switching off and on again clears it and the image has always been saved. This has become more frequent recently. A few weeks back the whole camera froze whilst on, with the power zoom extended, screen off, seemed totally dead. Returned spontaneously after a few minutes but I fear the writing is on the wall so I am essentially succession planning.
Unless I get a proper pay rise this year it seems unlikely I can stump up for a X-T5 so I've been looking at older models. Of course I'd like to make full use of the camera's capability so raw file conversion is a concern, but to be honest I reckon at least 80% of what I shoot should be no trouble in jpg, so my latest feelings are toward perhaps X-T3 + 23/2. If we get along well, can then look to get a newer one in due course.

The latest version of Raw File converter EX 3.0 powered by silkypix is compatible with most Fuji X cameras including my ancient X20 right through to the latest H2S and the like. When you open it you get an invitation to buy an upgrade to a more powerful editor. I ignore it and just select a file which loads and the invite goes away. The free version provides good tools for processing RAF files and can save the results as jpeg, 8 or 16 bit tiff. It can do batch processing. I cannot remember if a camera serial number was needed to download my first installation. One was not needed to upgrade a few minutes ago. I haven't used it extensively. Do you have any RAF files so that you can try it out?

I do not, but could probably find some online samples. Thanks for that.

OK - I bit the bullet - and survived! It is the Component One Express for Fujifilm cut down version and it appears to be free, as you get a nag screen on starting suggesting the upgrade to the full version. I should imagine it's a pretty good sales tool for enthusiast photographers - it worked for me and got me to upgrade to the Pro version eventually!
I haven't tested any of it yet, but can confirm that it can export to JPEG, DNG, TIFF, JPEG Quickproof and TNG.

Well technically I do have a Fujifilm digital camera, but it's a compact from 2002 and doesn't shoot raw files.
