Oh no! I'm really gutted but I can't come. The gout has cleared up quite well but I have suddenly acquired a rash...( no not that one). I appear to be in the grip of some sort of virus (cold sore eruption this makes me think it's viral). Best I steer clear of infecting everyone. Don’t think we were kissing on the first meet, were we? Adrian?? You wouldn't want to get too close when I start sweating...

Latest on the trains appears to mean that I am due into Oxford at 10:38... 2 hours for what should normally be around a one hour journey. So with Google suggesting it's about 20 minutes to walk from the station, it is going to be around 11am before I get there. Are we meeting on the same side of the road as Tom Tower or opposite? At least the forecast is dry; no need for an umbrella but will I need a jacket ??

Opposite Tom Tower. You'll have to be very quick in LCE!

Having had a quick look, I think I'm going to drive and head for the Redbridge P&R, about 70 minutes from home. It says buses every 10 minutes or so to the city centre and at £4 for the parking and return bus ticket, seems reasonable. Fuel costs awill be about the same as the train fare and much more convenient

There are probably others, but those are the two I am familiar with.

... and then I see the bit about the A34 closure. Odd that Google Maps isn't warning me of this for a journey tomorrow. May head for the Thornhill P&R instead.
If I do go by car, the bus stop location won't be too much of a worry as I should get to the city earlier and wander around the shops.

Having had a full on week with work and driving, I will be on a train. Any problems with industrial action, I will name drop Martin and the Socialist Snappers Club ...
I look just like my picture on the left, aged forty years and minus the red leather jacket.

The closure is down by Didcot, can't remember now if it is both carriageways. Keep an eye out on LCE for Rolleis they can't work out how to work... Might moeven bring Roly along, though it'll be for show as I have the others with film on coming already!

I'm coming from Farnborough (Hants) so I can either get on the M3, then M25 and M40 to Thornhill P&R or head across country to pick up the M4, the A34 to Oxford. The real pain is the lack of trains from my local station (not Farnborough main) to Reading... usually about 25 minutes but rail replacement buses seem to be running very infrequently and taking over an hour
