I Currently have my Sony A7ii, A6000 and Fuji x100t. Its all pretty old tech now and would like to go to an A7iii.
I Would trade in my A7ii and A6000 for the A7iii but I occasionally use my a6000 to give me extra reach for wildlife. I Could switch to crop mode on the A7iii which would give me the reach but only at 10 megapixels.
I haven't been out shooting wildlife for some time so haven't tried this on my a7ii has anyone here used this feature on an a7iii and been happy with it?

No idea but I suggest to check out what the viewfinder shows in crop mode. In the DSLR world I found more pixels = crop was no use to me because the subjects it would be useful for were too small in the viewfinder. I still use the 16 MP APS-H (x1.3 ) in favour of 50 MP (x 1) because the view in the finder is better for focussing but I do tend to try for too small subjects too far away at the best of times.

It's mostly for birds so yes good point, luckily the EVF on the sonys will revert to the 1.5 crop also

Have you considered something like a used a7Riv? I picked one up about eighteen months back and it's working well . Full resolution is more than I need but can use it . Crop mode is about 33 megapixel, so works well for both uses . Since the a7Rv came out , used prices of the iv should have dropped .
I'm using it with a few native lenses , but it also works well with adapted lenses . All lenses benefit from it's in body image stabilisation as well .

I did consider the a7riii it's not that much more than the a7iii used and like you say with the A7Riv it has way more resolution I think in crop mode you get 18mp as opposed to 10 on the A7iii

Hope you enjoy it. Was thinking for a long time that an a7iii was my natural upgrade route but when push came to shove I went with a Lumix S5 instead. I didn't have any Sony lenses other than the 16-50 so wasn't invested in the system. I think we're fortunate to be able to enjoy this hobby in an era where there are not really any bad choices.

The S5 looks to be an amazing machine I particularly like the incamera focus stacking feature. The only AF lenses I have are actually canon ones via an mc11 adapter so I wasn't tied to the system in any great way either.
I almost considered fuji since I love my x100t but figured I'd miss full frame.
I also considered going down the OMD em1 route as it would give me the reach and has the same focus stacking feature you get in the s5 plus with the m4/3 sensor if have much greater DOF for macro. I see lots of top macro photographers using that set up.
However I've only ever known sony, and I have dozens of legacy primes I like to use on a full frame sensor, also the animal eye AF looks pretty useful 👌
