Live beech leaf. As children, we used to pick these on occasions, and chew them. Goodness knows why?? i love beech leaves by Kate Ferris, on Flickr We also used to split the ears of oats and eat the kernel inside. We were weird!

Gosh squeamishossifrage how big is that gold and green picture? It is taking an age to show on my PC. Been a long time since that happened. Because it is a highly detailed JPEG image, it takes a lot of space, due to the way JPEG encoding is done. A typical JPEG of that size would be well under a megabyte, but the detail in that one has pushed it to nearly four times that size - which is why I use OpenDrive for my images instead of blowing away the forum's allowance.
