Seeing the postings so far makes me wonder if women are so different from men. I am genuinely interested and curious. How many times have you been in love? Not family love now. For me, it is three times.

For me, it is three times. Twice for me. I honestly thought I'd have married my first love eventually. We were together for 2 or so years (18-20 ish). I'm glad I didn't though, it would have been grief.

For me, it is three times. I think we have to define 'been in love', do we include teenage infatuations which can be very powerful if relatively short lived? Do we also include rather asymmetric relationships where one partner is head over heals while the other is less committed? Or are we only counting long term relationships where the love can last beyond the actual break up of a relationship?
It is all rather complicated and best not over analysed on open forum.
For the sake of the thread it would be two of the latter and at least four of the former which I have to say, at the time seemed seemed to be just as real.

Wise man. I would agree with your analysis though. I blame work environments, where at times, it seems we see/meet/get to know too well, others, more than the one we are living with. Some of us succumb.

Joyce, sadly passed away in 2008. Aw! So you are a one woman man. Sad she died. She wasn't my first, the first seemed to be happiest when she was having a row, (plus she managed to spend far more than I earned) so after 25 years I said enough and walked out then divorced, met Joyce a couple of years later we had a few months short of 25 years.
