I'm reminded that on Sunday morning I saw (very briefly and far too quickly to rush and get my camera) a red kite!. I have seen them nearby (about three miles away) but this is the first time actually within 50 feet of the house. We do get buzzards on a regular basis, at varying heights and distances.

I’ve not seen one locally since before Covid but the are definitely becoming more widespread. I have seen videos of them feeding in Wales. My friend went down there to see them and take photos (he run Faversham camera club). Hi photos were amazing. here’s a YouTube video of them feeding

An unexpected visitor to our suburban garden this evening. There Will Be Words if I find it has designs on our nesting spadgers. flic.kr/p/2pHjvx1

Without looking it up I think only the goldcrest/firecrest are smaller. They are lovely little birds.

a couple of hours at my local reserve before the weather closed in. Glad i did as I witnessed the Martins and Swallows arrive en masse. Started with 4 House Martins before it kept building to 50+ House Martins, Swallows, and Sand Martins. There were none when we arrived. It was actually a great couple of hours with around 20 species seen, but crap light for photography.
