For all my posturing and stubbornness It looks like I was all hot air… My “new to me” 1yr old boxed 6K Canon RP arrived last week, followed closely by both RF 50 & 16. Also grabbed the add on base (EG-E1). First impressions are good. Obviously I’m a cheapskate and bought the budget version. I imagine the newer R5/6 to be incredible but I can’t justify that outlay.
Doubt I will pick up more RF lenses, the fast 2.8’s, 2.0’s & 1.8’s are way too much and the cheaper (cough cough) entry versions with their appallingly slow maximum apertures (hello 24-50!!) are about as enticing as toothache. If canon were to release a RF pancake like the EF 40mm STM I will almost certainly grab it.
The RF50 & 16 only arrived yesterday. So will try them out tomorrow weather permitting.

How did that happen?
Just pulling your leg.
I suppose you will now have a lot of EFM lenses to dispose of....
Good luck with the weather, I spent much of last week looking at the weather thinking that what I wanted to do was take myself and a camera for a long walk in the sunshine under interesting clouds etc. Now we get to a long weekend it is grey and overcast. To make matters worse I can't go on a Flickr photowalk on Saturday because I have to go to a family event in St. Pauls.

I guess it was inevitable 😇
Had a pretty rough time over the past few months - no heating whatsoever. All sorted now. Decided I needed some retail therapy 😂
As for my M stuff, nope…. I’m keeping it. I still love it and will continue using it. Personally I think canon made a huge mistake in discontinuing the M line. Whilst the M6ii is superb a EVF version with articulated screen would have been incredible… let’s call it M7 based on the ergonomics of the M5, with M50 rear screen and M6ii AF and sensor, add the fold back flash …. That would have been unbelievable!!
The redundant stuff is my aps-c DSLR’s. They never see the light of day. They are mothballed up with silica should my enthusiasm return. The 7dii and 80d are brilliant, but I’m spoilt for choice these days.
The RP is nothing short of sheer indulgence. My EG-E1 extension grip arrived today. Wow, makes a huge improvement on the handling. Also the 2 RF lenses have the dual control ring. I’ve set it up to act as exposure compensation as the RP doesn’t have another option whilst in manual mode using the EVF. You can use the rear screen but it’s pretty much closed permanently as I never use them. Always scared of damaging it even though they are all (all my cameras) fitted with protectors.
With regards to the RP, It’s as I expected. It’s great.
Love how small and light both 50 and 16 are.
I think the RP has quenched my thirst. See no need nor reason to take the line further by going down the R rabbit hole. Instead I’ll be adapting my EF primes.
Happy days

A question to anyone who has the EF-R Control Ring adapter Once you’ve assigned a function for the control ring - in my case exposure compensation. Does it keep this when changing to different lenses?
I intend to adapt my EF IS lenses. I bought the last generation of EF IS lenses namely 24is, 28is, 35is plus have the 100Lis, 24-105is stm and 70-300 nano is ii.
The reason being I can use EF on all my canon bodies (via adapters) be it M, aps-C, aps-H and now R. It makes economic sense to stay with the EF line.
