Tracking the sun's progress. In the winter, the darkness can be very depressing. It cheers me up to watch the morning sunlight gradually making its way across the North wall of my livingroom. Every inch is a smiling moment for me. sun progress 1 by Kate Ferris, on Flickr

Apologies everyone - between work, book club, photo club and eating too much malaidar last night I totally forgot this was also on the to do list. Bear with. I'll have a winner shortly!

Untitled-1 by Kathryn Polley, on Flickr Some people made this very difficult by posting lots of great images. In the end, and because the remit was quite broad, I had to narrow it down by looking at which ones most appealed to me visually. I'm always a sucker for a good silhouette, strong diagonals, lines of people queuing and liquids so these by DanS, Kate, Zou and Roving Mike hit me straight away. I love all of them. A second and third go through and RM's couple looking over the gate caught my eye. It reminded me that one of the things about edges and boundaries and borders is that people like to cross them and this pair, hanging on the gate seem to epitomise the kind of 'grass is greener' thought process which often prompts that crossing. Which took me back to Kate's image where it looks as though the water has burst through to the other side of a barrier. So I could go round and round rationalising why one of these shots should win and the rest don't but in the end it came down to which one I found myself enjoying looking at the most and that was Zou's. I love the fact that it has two fences for the price of one, love the colours and the shapes formed by the mounds of grass and clouds in the water. I'd happily have that on a wall. So it's over to you, Zou!
