Had a very brief play with one of these in John Lewis a couple of weeks ago, and will try to have a further play at some point. I rather enjoyed it and could see myself using one (although at its current price I'd probably buy a used a7ii instead).
The question for discussion is why aren't there any useful lenses for it? There's a compact zoom which feels like it fell from a Christmas cracker, or a style-matched prime which is a bit long (28mm so about 42mm equivalent). It really needs a 18mm or (and, probably) 23mm prime and you've got something which would have the potential to smoke a GRIII or X100v.
Are there any 3rd party options at those focal lengths that fit the design and use aesthetic?

At the moment there's not a lot of lens available for the Z fc, I'm sure in time that will change. A guy I know uses his Z fc with f and dx glass with using an adapter with no problems
On a shoot we swapped cameras for the evening he used my xt30. I was quite impressed with the Z fc the feel, ergonomics and even the menus are very similar plus it's a bit lighter than the fuji

Viltrox has an autofocus 23mm f1.4 for c£300 or there's a Voigtländer 23mm f1.2 at over double the price but manual focus only.
TTArtisans have a 17mm f1.4 manual focus.
Can't see anything available at 18mm.

I have the viltrox 23 f1.4 in fuji mount, it's stunningly sharp great for buildings and detailed shots but somehow lacks any character....you just get a sense the images have something missing when compared to say the fujinon's. Also the apature ring is clickless so your constantly checking it hasn't been nudged. Still it's a great lens, glad I have it in the bag when shooting architecture

I have said before that it appears Nikon aren't showing much commitment to DX lenses. They never produced any fast telephoto zooms for DX with the F mount, "if you want a fast zoom, buy the FX version" and there was only one fast standard zoom. The kit lens for the Z fc is a collapsible one which does indeed look like something from a Christmas cracker.
I once thought the Z5 with kit lenses would be a good replacement for the One J5 but never took it any further. I wonder what sales of the DX format Z series cameras are like?

I looked at this when it first appeared and it's quite a nice little camera. I can't actually see any logical reason for me to purchase one. I already have Fujifilm cameras which do much the same in a similar way, in some ways better as most lenses have aperture rings, as well as being compact and high quality. Imho Nikon were late to the party.
