You have reminded me that when we were married, the registrar asked Michael for his occupation and happily wrote down 'Managing Director Engineering Company'. Then I was asked. Apparently, 'Technical Publisher' wasn't on the approved list of occupations and so it says I'm a secretary instead. As mentioned on my photo above of my wedding, it was very quick after my dad's death. On the day of the wedding, we went to sign the register. My dads name and occupation was written prior to the wedding, quite clearly, as it was just crossed through and "Deceased" written over it. A really nice touch and such a thoughtful thing to do!

I don't recall all the minutiae but fairly sure I didn't have to record my occupation on my Japanese wedding paperwork. Maybe I did but anyway, just seems like a completely pointless piece of information to retain.

Struggling with today's theme as I could post nearly any picture, they almost all have memories attached.

I wonder if the response would have been the same if it had been Michael's occupation. Things like that really annoy me. Especially annoying when doing genealogy research. You should have said you were writing a book on pedantic registrars.

I think they must pick the job because they have no empathy at all. That was a horrid thing to experience.

I keep loosing posts. Mkt. Weighton IMG_9794edit by Keith Hudson, on Flickr Market Weighton and Arras War memorial and Institute on The Green, Market Weighton.August 2022. As a kid I must have walked past 'The Institute' thousands of times as it was between our house and the village shops, also serves as a memory of one of the last days I was in the village, now a small town, after I sold Dad's house.

Balance:- An explanation: When the vat has been filled with wheat grain, the curved cantilevered rod is swung away from the wall, as the millstone (actually cast concrete) which is supported at its point of balance, is lowered from the chamber above. This also swings the millstone centrally over the vat Then the gear is engaged, the waterflow initiated, and the milling starts.
