That's really going to upset Bishop Wilberforce! (not your wife - the other bit)

Can't remember the last time I gestured for anyone to climb on my back but I'm quite sure it didn't involve showing the soles of my feet.
It does make me wonder how we can understand/recognise and even use the same gestures as apes but nobody can agree on the correct term for a breadroll.
(Barm/bap/roll/cake...take your pick.)

I think the animals understand us perfectly well and avoid us as best they can. The two exceptions are of course dogs who seem to think having a tickle is what they were put on this earth for and cats who just rule.

I don't recall ever having to use the tree shaking trick though.

We are apes. No doubt about it. The family tree is well understood. Our distant cousins many times removed may not been au fait with quantum physics and string theory, but neither am I. I am an ape and so is everyone else human on this planet. Having a few Neanderthal genes does not let us off. Neanderthals are also apes. (tense deliberate) Neanderthals have often been dismissed. They did not disappear. Their genes live on in much of the developed world. Less so in the undeveloped world. Make what you want of that. I blame Neanderthal genes in the developed world for the industrial revolution and global warming. Total pollacks of course. Prove me wrong.
