I suppose that it's good that Charles jumped before being pushed.
Anyone know how the Crown Estate could (apparently) extend offshore?

According to the Guardian, dear Tony Blair gave her majesty the royalties in 2005.
The Queen’s ownership of the British coastline is as old as the monarchy itself. But her right to collect royalties from wind and wave power is much more recent: it was granted by Tony Blair’s Labour government in a 2004 act of parliament.
Wasn't he kind?

For that money I would expect to be a Lord. As long as you don’t become a count. (Think I spelt that correctly!)

Territorial waters. Anything built between the coast and the territorial limit can, potentially, be Crown Estate.
From the BBC It (The Crown Estate) owns 10 million sq ft of property in London's West End, as well as the seabed around England, Wales and Northern Ireland among other properties.
