It is a shame I didn't think about moving the car back a bit so I could have got the yellow calipers at the bottom next to the yellow lines. Portofino 1 by Nigel G, on Flickr

I'm having a lovely day! Those who burrow as far south as the Equipment forum will know that by a curious piece of happenstance I have been able to resurrect my Fujifilm X-10. In doing so I noticed the cupboard to which it had been relegated was in a state of disarray, so today I set to, to sort it out. In doing so I came across three cameras I had totally forgotten about. The first, and most boring, was a Chinon EX BF100 35mm point and shoot, in pristine condition, complete with original case and instruction booklet. Apparently the BF stands for 'Big Finder', but I am not such a BF to have bought it, so I must have been given it, or perhaps won it in a raffle. I have a vague recollection that it might have been from one of these 'bring a random gift for a random person' Christmas parties. The second was an Olympus iS-50, a 'bridge' 35mm job with a 28-120mm f:4.9-6.8 built-in zoom and a grip sensor on/off switch. I recall that I bought it in Larnaca Duty Free shop 25+ years ago on my way to an opera tour in Prague, as I had had to send my Rollei 2000 away for service as the film wasn't winding on. The Olympus was an extremely nice-to-use holiday camera, but it was only used for that one week, and I thought I had given it away years ago. It looks brand new, not a mark on it, and I must put a film through it soon if I can find batteries for it. The last is a Vivitar ViviCam F332, a 14.3mpix 'point and shoot', again in pristine condition. I picked this up a dozen years ago from the local filling station. I kid you not - one of these 'buy enough petrol and get it for a token payment' or some such offer. Apparently I had enough tokens that they just gave it to me anyway. A 35km daily commute in a 4x4 tends to do that! I don't think I ever used the camera beyond checking it worked. There were certainly only two pictures on the card, dated 2011. I hate using my 'phone for picture taking, as that's not what I bought it for and I don't like using a touch screen to control a camera - I much prefer buttons, so I think this little thing is going to be my 'keep it in a pocket' camera for the foreseeable! I have just downloaded the software for it and it includes auto-upload to a site of my choice. Prepare for a deluge, folks! Three nearly virgin cameras in a day - if I were about to have a turkey lunch, it would be just like Christmas!

I've just been told that a friend who I recommended for a job is being offered the position. This should result in me getting a very nice referral fee indeed. Will go a long way to a new bathroom!

Bugger me, there's some echo in here! Is that why you need a new bathroom?

Todays cheerful moment.
My mum has to have a 24hr heart monitor fitted so I have just brought her to the hospital. We were just stood outside the ward waiting to be let in/check we were in the right place. In front of 2 nurses and a member of the public my mum told them she was here to āHave a strap on fittedā
Oh how we chortled.

My poor mum looked a bit confused why we were all laughing. I am glad she didn't ask me why.
